Introduction
Corrie van Rijn has worked in the clothes and textile industry for over 25 years. She has a passion for colour, abstract art, exotic cultures and simplicity of line, using simple block prints, fabric dyeing and painting, hand waxing her fabrics and using discharge techniques producing innovative contemporary clothes that are easy and exciting to wear. Her work draws inspiration from abstract modern art, the natural world and Oriental work wear, producing individual clothes that are timeless yet contemporary and wonderful to wear.
Bridport Open Studios: Bank Holiday Weekend 28, 29 and 30 August 2010
Bridport Open Studios presents a unique opportunity to visit Corrie van Rijn and Alan Hussey in their beautiful workshop and showroom in Askerswell and to talk with them
about their work.
For Corrie van Rijn, clothes and fabrics have always inspired and excited her; their patterns, colours and
textures, an endless celebration of changing shapes and
form. Most of her pieces are one-off’s: timeless, intelligent, exotic, fun, and above all wonderful to wear.
Inspiration often comes from the smells, colours and
landscapes of travel.
